Pepperwood Gypsy Cobs is situated at the base of the awe inspiring and majestic Porongurup range in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. Our stud is backed by ancient karri forest, and the soils from these wonderful wooded areas is carried down a gentle slope to our farm enabling us to grow beautiful pasture on gravelly loams.
The Porongurup's are known as one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and are also one of the most picturesque, which we feel is a fitting place to breed these beautiful horses.
Our goal is to produce a handful of absolutely fabulous foals each year that have great conformation, incredible temperaments and tons of hair!
In our Gypsy Cobs the overall package is one that is breathtaking. Bred for literally centuries in England, the best breeders have taken generations to achieve the heavy silky feathering, bold colour patterns, muscular shoulder and hindquarters, short coupled combination with the natural balance that is so desired.
We breed, lovingly raise and train each of our quality Gypsy Cob and Drum horses. Our horses are all registered with the Australasian Gypsy Horse Society and our foals have their lineage DNA verified.
We believe in the science of horse breeding and as such we do not mass produce. Careful thought is put into each breeding and resulting foal and we strongly believe in preserving the traditional Gypsy Cob, as it was originally intended to be. We will not change the breed due to demand, discipline nor current fad.
Our horses are treated as a valued member of our family and enrich our lives as such. We do not aim to be a big stud as we feel to do so would be to lose the special relationship we have with each and every horse here. We are present at and handle them all from birth. We groom, train and adore them each and every day
Pepperwood Gypsy Cobs facilities include 2 fully AQIS approved quarantine paddocks, a stallion paddock, visiting mares paddocks, and 2 fully secure foaling paddock. 3 rounds yards of varying sizes for training weanlings, lunging and riding. An Olympic size dressage arena, double wash bays and a wide laneway system linking all paddocks. Each paddock has good drainage, shade trees and is covered in specially seeded pasture of Rhodes, browntop bent grass, brome and cocksfoot. All of which are low sugar/high fibre grasses for horses. All of these facilities and features have been designed and built by us, and they have been finished with care and attention to detail that is hard to find elsewhere.
It is important to us to maintain honesty and integrity in all our business dealings. If we do not have the horse of your dreams, then we have friends and contacts that probably will. We do not profit from referring you but feel that it is very important that people get the horse they really want. After all owning a Gypsy Cob is a dream come true!
