Brackenhill Joe Boy imp
BJ as he is fondly known is a 2009 bay and white, tri coloured stallion who was bred by the well-known and highly regarded James Taylor of Brackenhill stables in the UK . We imported BJ into Australia to join our stud in 2010.
BJ is beautifully put together with a lovely sloping shoulder, fantastic top line and short coupled body, something for which his Sire Alfie of Brackenhill is renowned for. BJ is a DNA parentage verified son of Alfie of Brackenhill (pictured below) Alfie of Brackenhill is one of only a handful of Stallions that have been awarded “Historical Stallion” status with the TGCA- Traditional Gypsy Cob Association UK. This is a very highly coveted award being a recognition of his contribution to the development of the traditional Gypsy cob.
BJ is also DNA verified to Tilly of Brackenhill. One of the most sort after broodmares in the UK, and the dam to some of the most extraordinary cobs. Tilly stands a true 15.1hh and is both ride and drive trained. She is a superb example of the proper traditional cob and is a strong powerful mare. Tilly's grandsire is Gykes Black horse.
BJ has it all, conformation, temperament, incredible movement, the best of breeding, a lovely balance of markings and he is ride and drive trained. BJ is proving to be a phenomenal stallion for Pepperwood with both his Purebred and Drum progeny exceeding all our expectations. BJ has developed into a remarkable stallion to stand by his own merit.
